house The property is ideally suited for touring the Castle and Whisky trails. The historic market town of Huntly is home to Huntly Castle, which was built, in the 16th and 17th centuries. The castle is located on the banks of the river Deveron in a beautiful woodland setting. Huntly has a splendid 18-hole golf course and a bowling green. Falconry and Peregrine centres are only 10 minutes drive away. The Glenfiddich Distillery, Moray Wildlife Centre, The Speyside Cooperage, Baxters of Speyside, Leith Hall and Gardens, Dalgety Castle and the coast with it's picturesque fishing villages are all within an hours drive from Huntly. Huntly is very convenient for the train and has an excellent bus service which runs every hour to Aberdeen or Inverness. The pick up point is 5 minutes walk from New Marnoch. Ideally placed, Aberdeen airport is only 45 minutes drive and Inverness airport is only 90 minutes drive. Excellent walks in and around Huntly include a beautiful walk along the river Deveron towards Huntly Castle, the Ba'hill route (2 miles) and the Battle Hill woods which are in Huntly. The National Trust for Scotland (North East) has the following castles approx. 30-90 minutes drive from Huntly: Fyvie Castle, Leith Hall, Craigievar Castle, Mar Lodge Estate, Crathes Castle, Drum Castle, Castle Fraser, Pitmedden and Haddo House. |
